    Default Install subs

Hey guys, just wondering how long it would take to install subs in a vx, I'll probably get it done at jb as i can get it cheap but need to know roughly how long it will take as im getting a h/u installed and figured might as well kill two birds with one stone by doing both. Cheers

Well if you want the gear to be wired up properly then I wouldn't recommend JB to do it. They hire contractors who don't give a rats-ass about JB's reputation, unless you have heard/seen good word by that particular installer, in which case go for gold.

When you say installing subs, do you mean an amplifier to power the subs or...? To wire up a sub to an amp is literally a 2 minute job and most of that time is spent looking for the screwdriver. Do you already have RCAs running to the boot? You could install an amp in about 1 hour yourself if you are any good with a tool kit. Probably about the same for a pro to do it, its a easy enough job but a lot of the time is spent removing and reinstalling panels and the backseat, etc. If you get the installer to do it, then about $60ish.

Everything thing has to be done, I've got an amp and capacitor because I bought it all as one big package off a classifieds site for $300, so I'd need to get wires and everything. Yea I'm a bit hesitant to remove stuff just yet, door trims would be ok as there are guides left, right n centre, but not to sure bout other things..

I'm in the south eastern suburbs but I'll be getting my license next week so I shall be free to anywhere

EDIT: Also the h/u I'm getting has 2 RCA's meaning I can hook up 2 amp's? Because I shall be getting speakers soon.

2 RCA outputs means you can hook up 2 amps yes. Just some advice, for future post's, it help's if you can include as much info as you can on the components your using, like head unit model numbers ect..That way we can check for you with things like pre-outs, and tell you what can be done and what your options are.

I wouldn't bother with the capacitor, and if your not confident with doing any part of the install, then definately get some one else to do it. That's not to say don't have a go, and learn, but with later model vehicles, they become more complicated with electrics ect, and interior panels are more expensive to replace if you break something.

Yeah like HoldenCommodoreVP said, brands and models help. Installing equipment isn't really hard but if you believe you your up to it than definitely get it professionally done as bad things can happen when your messing around with electrical equipment. For example if that capacitor is empty and you just hook it straight up without charging it, ummmm 'fun' things can happen.

Why not do the install yourself? Its not that hard and think of the knowledge you'll gain for future systems etc........not to mention the money you'll save.

We can do our best on here to help you along the way
