g'day
im going to install a 680w 4-channel amp in my car this weekend, and instead of buying a wiring kit going to get the components cheaply though my work. For the main battery and earth wires im going to use 4 gauge (20mm) cord.
my question is, what kind of fuse should i use for the main power cable? i'd like to use just a blade style fuse that i can fit neatly beside the fuse box, or should i be using a ANL style or a glass inline thing? Will it make any difference?
thanks in advance![]()
I would think that a fuse is a fuse and it shouldn't really matter, just make sure you get the right size fuse.

Electus Distribution something like that would be ideal for 4ga. You'd need a decent fuse holder for it tho! Probably just be easier to get an ANL fuse and holder.
stinger make fuse holders for maxi blade fuses, they just arent as common as the AGU or ANL fuses
also remember your fuse should be within 45cms of tha battery
Platinum InLine Maxi Blade Fuseholder - Jaycar Electronics
This is Jaycars version of a maxi blade fuse holder, they also have the fuses up to 120A.
Stinger would probably be better quality, but if youre after a cost effective solution the Jaycar one isnt too bad at all.
