Okay, my mate said he would sell me his Kenwood 1000W sub run by a 500W briged 2 chan polk momo amp for 300. But I was looking at this JVC sub/amp setup, which one in your opinion is better value for many etc Ryda Car Audio - JVC CS-BGS5120 12" Powered Subwoofer($389.25)
MODEL NUMBERS PEOPLE!!! how do you expect us to to offer you our opinions between 2 different components wen we can only see one of them?
In respone, I wouldn't buy either. 1000w means nothing. Generally all cheap entry levels subs claim 1000, 1200 ect, meaning they most likely have a nominal input of of 250 RMS.I'm guessing his is a cheap one, and could be had new for less than $100..adding a cheap pre-fab enclosure, or better yet, build your own, leaving $150 to spend on an amp(could get a decent one 2nd hand off ebay.) Polo Momo are crap anyway... That JVC combo, dosen't even have any specs..??under $400 aint gonna get you much, but with a bit of hunting around online, you could pick yourself up a bargain..Better yet, if your serious about your audio, save up and wait. Buy yourself a really nice set of splits insteadmy 2 cents

Hey, ease up on the Polk bashing, I happen to run 2 sets of Polk Momo MMC-6500 speakers and they sound mint.![]()

What kind of music do you listen to? What are you expecting out of this upgrade?

Yea this is only a cheap build, I got my good splits/amp already so this is the final piece of the puzzle.
Umm, I listen to hiphop/r'n'b but I also listen to rock. I really listen to everything. I like my beats and rock.
Hmmmz, the JVC is a ported enclosure and thus wont have the kick of a sealed enclosure which probably won't sound as good when your listening to rock. But for hip hop n rnb a ported box would have the edge.
I do get the feeling that the port is too small though and the tuning frequency would more than likely be a little too high, being a prefab and all and the amplifier is probably dismal...
Whats the exact specs on your mates setup?
