Hey I have $500 and was woundering if I would be able to pick up a set or quality 6" splits and a Amp. I already have decent 6x9" in the back would this be a decent setup?
Thanks
I've got an Alpine CDE-102e
Does your $500 budget include wiring, and installation.
Are you after a 2 channel, or a 4 channel? Are you wanting to amplify your rear speakers aswell, or just the fonts? and what are your future plans as far as upgrades?
Within the budget there would be a few options-
Buying all new-
The SPL dynamics SD6.2 http://www.shoppingsecure.com.au/ind...ewCat&catId=16 these are great for the price, easily competing with more expensive speakers
There's also the Digital Design's DDC6.5, http://www.ddaudiodirect.com.au/ddc65.html which i haven't heard personally, but i have heard good things about them.
Also the Response range from Jaycar,http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView...T&SUBCATID=602 are also good for the money, and have been reduced in price since the introduction of the Vifa range of speakers. But would be the less of the pick IMO when compared to the other 2 mentioned.
Also, you could spend more on your front speakers (this is always the best option, as it's the most important factor to consider in any build up) and shopping around for a used amplfier.
Will need to know whether your after a 2, or 4 channel amp before making any more reccomendations.

yer im trying to buy quality, so i will wait for installation if i cannot afford it.
i dont know about the channel, I am wanting to amplify the rear speakers and the new splits.
I am planning on leaving this setup for awhile.
cheers guys
If your wanting to power both the front and rears, then you will need a 4 channel (4 channels, 4 speakers)
If quality is your main concern, then i'd suggest spending the most you can on your front speaker's, and then shopping around for a used amp, or wait and save up.
Are you firm on that budget? I offer the AD6 which is the best set of speakers available under $500 as many people here are aware of, they are currently on special for $375 for members on here but it makes it difficult to fit an amplifier in that budget. If you could spare another $120 I could organise an amazing deal for you with an Italian amplifier, just to get you hooked on the quality I offer![]()

Yeah i agree, if you want quality i would spend around $300-$400 on a set of splits, then save up to and buy a 4 channel amplifier with 80-120wrms per channel to power the splits and current 6x9s. This should give you a decent amount of volume and clarity....but me thinks the big will take a bite and you'll be wanting a sub/s![]()
