    Default vs stock speakers

Just wondering what speakers kind of speakers a vs has? one of my speakers is not working and I am thinking I might try and replace it, but seeing as everything else is stock, I would probably try and replace it with a stock item.

VR and VS commodores have 6" splits in the front (mid-range/mid-bass in the door pod, tweeter in the dash where the A-pillar meets the dash) and 6" coaxials in the rear.

Your joking right?? You should put your hearing aid in more often!!

The stock speakers in all commodores are garbage.

I just purchased a brand new SV6 sportswagon and the speakers only lasted 1/2 a day before they were replaced with a Focal system.

I think garbage is a bit extreme... the stock speakers I had in my old VX were more than adequate, especially now compared to the ones in a VS! I guess it depends what you listen to and how you listen to it...

It also depends on what you call adequate too......not having a go or anything, so dont take offence.

Some people think 5w 4" dual cone speakers are fine for a car stereo system, while others wont put anything less than a few thousand watts and a few thousand dollars worth of speakers in their car.
My point is, sound is very subjective. If youre happy with the sound, thats all that matters
    150db in a commodore =

    no offence taken.
its true, peoples needs vary, and some people only need a stock system, others need their ears to bleed!

love to upgrade my system but i cant afford it!!

I have a VS too and am trying to find a way of mounting some 6'' by 9''s in the back, it has proved to be a bit a mission. Any ideas would be awesome!!!

Mounting? Aren't the holes already marked out in the parcel shelf? If they're not, look in from the boot, mark out enough of a hole for the back of the speaker and a little more to fit and then cut.. Mine came with them prefitted.. Only ever had to cut speakers out of a few old holdens and fords. Get some spacers from autobahn for the speaker to connect to.. wiring etc and voila!!!

The stock rear holes in a VS were only designed for a 6 inch speaker. The only way to fit a 6x9, is to use a spacer (such as this one) APF69HBL : 1 Pair 6x9" (152mmx228mm) Black Vinyl Fibreglass Speaker spacers :: Speakers
You'll need to mount them going length way's aswell. This about the only way you'll be able to mount them, without cutting anything anything.

Im 100% sure there not 6.5" in VS , if you want sick by nines then your going to have to remove the steal bridge te speaker mounts to thats under the moulded shelf.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the VX speakers I've seen have been exactly the same as VS ones. I think you might have imagined yourself an improvement there.

EDIT: Oh wait, except for the "maestro" stereo or whatever that was...probably still exactly the same though
