hi could someone please help me im tryin to work out how to run constant power to my sterio so i can have the car off n just power up the stezza n listen to tunes ?? can someoine help me plz its vr
wire it to the battery
yeah but how do i do that though i can wire the rest just not sure how to do that part
run a wire from the positive terminal thru the engine bay thru the firewall and connect it to your stereo power supply wire dont forget a fuse at the battery , or use the live wire at the ignition switch loom ??? if in doubt have a auto elec wiring the power side for you ...
oh yeah i have an old amp power wire there with a fuse in it that runs straight inside i can just hook that up th it n dont have to earth it out or does it just earth though the sterio .
connect it to earth without the stereo in line and it will short out , connect to your stereo power wire and the stereo earth wire to earth ??? simple as that
oh sweet sorry to b a pain just wanna make sure before i fry shit costs to much lol cheers
always better to ask questions first and look silly than go ahead and stuff it up completely
I would recommend just joining the yellow and red wires together on the back of the head-unit, its simplier and less dangerous.
May i ask why you would want to hook it straight up to permanent power? This is one of the reasons why the accessoires switch in the ignition was made.
150db in a commodore =
i would personally find it very annoying to have to turn off the headunit manually every time i switched off the car.
there's a thread on here somewhere where a guy wired up the acc wire to a relay so the headunit stayed on until the doors were opened. that's about as far as i'd go![]()
how about using the constant feed from behind the headunit and use a switch which is wired to constant and accessories so when you flick the switch on with the keys out you can listen to your cd player
I'd just hook up a switch that bridges accessory power to 12v constant. When switch is off, it will work just like its supposed to (with key in acc/ign position), when switch is turned on, stereo will be working regardless.
