all i need is a decent wiring diagram for a VX S and a tutorial/info on setting up the steering wheel controls... if this is possible to do myself?
im pretty cluey with electrical but if the steering wheel controls are just a pain in the ass to do, id like to know because i wont even bother.

Remove the old stereo (covered a few times here, use coathanger wire) and unplug it. You can either chop the plug off and solder / tape your new stereo wires onto the car's loom or leave the plug on and just strip some insulation off each wire (not the copper conductor, just the insulation) with the aid of some wire strippers. Then solder / tape your new wires onto these. This way if you want to sell the car and keep your stereo all you need to do is chop off the new wires one at a time and tape the loom back up, then just plug the stock stereo back in.
What i just do as far as mounting the new unit goes is just insert the cradle from the new unit (metal frame thing if you dont know) into the top of the hole left by the old stereo, it'll be a tight fit so just be patient, it DOES fit![]()
Then just pull the wiring through the cradle and plug the new unit in, slide it into the cradle untill it clips into place. You'll need a "snap in" universal pocket that just goes into the gap below the stereo, all done!
Not sure about the steering wheel controls, havent done a VX i dont think......but they are a bit of a hassle so either leave it for the pros or forget about it![]()

hmmm i realy wana play mp3 cd's but i dont want to lose function of wheel controls... Tough choice.
You can use a CAT to interface your steering wheel controls to an aftermarket headunit. Be willing to part with $150 though! I think JB Hifi stock them.
okay thanks for the tip ill look into that. Like the dp btw lol
