hii all
Is the Alpine MRP M1000 to power full to run two Pioneer TS-SW1241D 12' subs
two 4 ohoms would bring it down to 2 ohoms and then its at 500rms each at 14.4v but some people cars i have seen they never run at 14.4v its always about 11.
Would the amps destroy the subs because to much power or would it be all good
Any help would be great

Basically you can never have to much power, ever! Ok, maybe in an extreme case, but your's isn't. Extra power (or headroom as it's reffered to ) is a good thing. It means your amp can supply the rated input, with less effort basically. It's just a matter of correctly setting the gains.
As far as the volt readings go, i've never seen 14.4, i've seen between low 12, to high 13, but never anything above 14 volts. Some people electrical systems may be different though, but always look at an amps power output's at 12V, not the 14 V ouptut that some manafactuers claim...
But assuming your subs are around the 3-400 RMS mark? i didn't check, you'll only have around 100-150 RMS head room on each sub anyway. Factor in any voltage drops, and you can then begin to see that the extra power, never becomes an issue.
Those subs are 350wrms each so a total of 700wrms. Also need to remember an amplifier is like an engine, if an engine puts out 150kw youre not just going to start it up and drive off pushing out 150kw. Its the same story with an amp, theres a gain control and once the amp is properly tuned you will not have any troubles powering those subs, the amp will only produce power up until either the subs start to distort and / or the amplifier starts to distort (once again, once tuned properly). Theres abit more to it than that but im just writing the main part.
Anyway, the moral of the story is that amp will power those subs fine, it wont be working to its full potential all the time so you'll have "headroom" which is always a good thing.
Edit: VP beat me to it![]()
150db in a commodore =
