15 inch pioneer subs - eBay Subwoofers, Audio, Video, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 08-Dec-09 18:43:28 AEDST)
I rekon there was some dummy bidding but eh. Doesn't bother me.. Question being. I got the option of getting a 3000w Monoblock.. But I shouldn't need more than a 2000w mono should I? I wanna get the most out of them though.
Thoughts?

You need to quote watts in "RMS" values and not peak, those subs are 350wrms each so a total of 700wrms is the minimum i would use to power them.
Look at 800-1000wrms amplifier, i think those subs are 4 ohm single voice coil......so look around for amps that produce that sort of power at 2 ohm.

Yeah.. I got most of it downpat just wanted 2nd thoughts.
Cheers.
I would have been more concerned about buying from an ebayer who claims to have put $400 worth of subs, in a $500 box....
She said 1000 bucks plus 500 lol. I did think about that but they live pretty close and have already arranged pick up... If they're shit.. well oh well.. Plus I heard the 'impp' 12" a while ago. Sounds good. Just hoping these run alright.
I wouldnt be too worried about the subs, that box is worth the $200 anyway![]()

Yeah the box looks good. Just hoping it doesn't fall apart when I pick it up haha
Got it all. All in good condition too. Bloke used to be an auto elec and he rekons they're still good. Getting another amp soonish hopefully..
Just be careful with those subs. Don't put anything in the boot that could touch them because they crack really easily... Sometimes without even being touched.
Yeah the box is facing towards the car which is handy, I'll just have to tell my spastic mates not to throw shit in the boot through the pull down seat.
Yeah I know but the box is built for it to face inward. I might take the carpet off and see how the base is connect. I might just be able to knock a few nails out and swap it around.
Ok. FINALLY hooked them up.
I'm running 0awg to a dist. box which splits to two 4awg ports. 1 powers speaker amp, other powers sub monoblock.
When I hook the subs up to the (Option Audio 800wRMS) monoblock, there is a whistling noise in them (with and without the music up). First thing I thought is they are worn or is there something to do to fix them?
Help thanks... don't like spending 200 bucks on subs which are shit![]()
Subs don't whistle.
You need to give us a better idea of the noise... The only whistling i've heard from subs is a sub box leaking and the air is whistling AND some noisy class D amps can have high frequency noise but usually you only heard that through full range speakers.
Yeah, well they were whistling.. Turns out the low pass control on my brand new amp was buggered and set to full. I got the same amp and it's all good now.
Cheers![]()
