hey hows it going , just got a new sub for my vr ute today and got ute sub box with a
12 "pioneer slim, it kinda sounds weird is it because the box is so small? and if i put a hole in the box like other sub boxes ive seen would the sound be better?
What your talking about is a "port".
Simply putting a hole in the box would make it sound HORRIBLE. It needs to be well planned out and will also require a larger box.
Show us your current box plans please.

Define sounding "weird". I can't see an obvious problem from the components you have linked to.
And by the way, gold star for providing good info about the gear you are using. A lot of people who ask questions on here could learn a thing or 2 from you.

well it kinda sounds like its muffled

mayb because its right behind the seat?
i moved the seat forwards and it still sounded the same tho![]()
What do you have the LPF set to? It should be around 80-120Hz

I have heard that they can sound muffled becasue they are going straight into the seat and there is no where for the sound to go.
Just out of curiousity how does that box fit behind the seat? how much room do you lose? possibly a picture?
i was fiddling around with the sub just be for and found that the box has air coming out of the top when the subs going could the be the reason why the noise sounds different to other subs or would it have to do with being a slimline? and would a "port" help guide the air and make a better sound?
That could well be the problem. A sealed box is meant to be just that - sealed. It should have no air leaks whatsoever.
Get the idea of a port out of your head for the time being. A ported box is completely different to a sealed one. To sound good it has to be matched pretty well perfectly to the sub that's in it, and would have to be a fair bit bigger than the one you have

I'm only having a guess, but I'd put it down the subs inability to move air, being so close to the seat, as the main problem as far as sound goes.
Ive installed a few of these and they dont sound too bad, for what they are. If there is air leaking out of the top of the box thats not good. Remove the box and unscrew the sub, look on the inside of the box where it is leaking and if you can see a gap etc, get some sealant and seal it up. Leaks definately cause subs to sound crap.
