Hey guys;
Im running a DVD player, four 6" speakers and two tweeters (tweeters via crossover of course) all in the head unit.
The other week, driving home all so randomly I lost sound from the Front right speaker and tweeter, and the head unit displays "Failure"
When I got home, I noticed the tweeter was buzzing every so often (every 5 or so seconds, for 1-2 seconds?) thinking I'd popped the speaker, however for a split second today it actually worked, then cut out again, and displayed FAILURE on the head unit
Whenever the unit is turned on (from ignition) it will display failure until I do something with the remote - volume up/down or so..
Any ideas?
Head-unit brand / model?
Sounds to me like either a head-unit or wiring problem.

Of course, sorry
Sony DVD Player.. I'll get a photo of it in a sec, it's a split system, screen and unit are seperate.
Did you install the head-unit yourself, or get it done by a pro?
So, when you say you lost sound from the front right speaker, do all the other speakers still work fine?
Strange that the unit would display failure and still be putting out sound, thats all.

Yeah, I installed it all myself, worked perfectly well for months, then all of a sudden it just stopped.
Front right (door) speaker, and tweeter don't produce sound, but the tweeter buzzes.. I suspected I blew the FR channel on the unit, but after it worked for 10 seconds today, that erased that thought.
How did you connect it? Join and tape? Or did you solder it?
Join and tape, but it was all done quite tightly, I didn't want to cut corners in that aspect
If you didn't want to cut corners you should have soldered it lol.
It's not very likely but it is possibly that some may have come loose.
I may pull the stereo out tonight, and have a look. I don't like the chances either to be completely honest.
Lol tim.. Im VERY doubting it, but I'll take a look-see![]()
Yeah just double check everything in and out
Wow.. Forgot to update this, completely removed the head unit, checked the FR wire to headunit loom, undid it all, re connected it, seems to work now :\
I've packaged it tighter, it's all going to be re-done this weekend weather depending. there's probably 2-5 meters of excess wiring packed in behind the kickpanels/dash that im going to piss off.
Bet my bank account($20) that it was a short....and head unit went into autoprotect mode..![]()
