just wondering if anyone can help me with the volume control of the alpine mrd m300 amp becaue it seems to be very quiet, i have had a little play around with it but can't work it out
the amp is only running a pioneer champion series 10" any help would be great thanks
The volume control is on your head-unit. The gain is probably what you are looking for. You have to match the gain to the RCA voltage of your head-unit. If you turn the gain up to much you will kill the sub or even the amp.
If you don't know the correct voltage then post up your H/U model.
Also make sure the amps crossovers are set. LPF (low pass filter) should be between 80-100hz and the subsonic filter should be about 20-30hz.
Also is you sub a dual 2-ohm or a dual 4-ohm?

yer you r right not the level because i have foud that and it is at 15.....and i don't think it should be that high, the h/u is an alpine cde 105e and the sub is 2ohm, thanks
Ok that H/U has 2V preouts, so on the gain on the amp set it to about 2V.
That sub has 2 voice coils, as in 2 sets of positives and negatives on the back. Is it 2-ohms or 4-ohms per voice coil. The model number will end in either D2 or D4, which is it?

Amplifier ID: 1

Memory: Whatever

yer mate it ends in D2
There is your problem, when you wire it up, it goes down to 4-ohms, thus you only get 150wrms from the amp.

And thats not very much at all unfortunately... (yes I know I'm captain obvious)
Dual 4 ohm would work much better.

Go easy Captain Obvious, my first sub had all of 160wrms and I thought it was awesome at the time.
Of course now I look back and wondered how I did without all that glorious bass that I have now.
Bass = more addictive than any drug.

i thougt that this amp was 2 ohm compatible???, should i buy a new sub????
It is 2 ohm capable but its impossible to wire your subwoofer up to the correct ohms.
Your options would be to either upgrade the amp or the subwoofer, its up to you.
That said if I was in your situation I would replace both and use a box thats ported and a 12" subwoofer. The output would be dramatically improved. It probably wouldn't be as punchy (depending on the quality of the package you purchase) and it would really depend on your taste in music but it would be a LOT louder.
