I've recently removed the stock VT double din radio head unit and am replacing it with a Kenwood single Din cd player. I tried fitting the brace/frame that comes with the player into the top of the space but it would not fit properly. I have a universal din pocket which I've put underneath but am struggling to find a way to securely mount the player. Does anyone know how I can do this.
is it the headunit not fitting into the facia, or the facia not fitting into the double din space?
If its the head unit not fitting in, theres a black plastic running around just above the face plate, if you take the face plate off its more obvious. Its just the black plastic around where the face plate sits, remove that, it should just clip off, then put the head unit with the face plate coming in from the rear of the facia.. I hope thats it.
Its the brace or housing or whatever the metal frame that slips around the cd player thats not fitting in properly, it keeps warping and isn't flush and then the Head Unit wont fit into it. So I'm thinking I need to mount it without this brace by drilling holes in the sides of the metal box which it will fit in and screwing it in.
Use the method in the other thread thats over 4 years old, it can be a pain to screw the straps to the metal frame of the cavity though.
