Hey i was thinkin of purchasing some Boston Pro 60's they are pretty loud and stay clear when they get loud.
Any suggestions on amp to power these im not phased on the price on the amp just want somethin thats going to make these crank
I've been reading a few reviews on these speakers, sounds bloody good, even read that quite a few people a feeding a lot more than the rated 125wrms into them and they love it. One review even swore he was giving them 300wrms.
Anyway, these are very good speakers so you wouldn't use anything other than a very good amp, and if price isn't an issue than try these.

Stetsom, very well known for their competition class amps, and this puppy will feed 170wrms x 2 at 4-ohm
Or if you want to spend a little bit extra then;
Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - Steg QM 220.2x
Steg are extremely good at SQ amps. This one will provide 220wrms x 2 at 4-ohms.
Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - Steg QM 120.2x
Another Steg amp. Will put out 120wrms x 2 at 4-ohm
Now remember that these speakers are 3-ohms each. So the amp will put out about halfway between it 4-ohm and 2-ohm power figures.
I would probably go the third one, 160wrms each would make the Bostons crank hard.

I've got a set of pro60s, I'm running them biamped with an Eclipse 4x75w and paired with a Boston G5. Absolutely love them, mids are very nice and clear. The tweeters also sound fantastic, however sometimes can be a little bright for my liking.
The Steg 220.2 is a BEAST. 220RMS 0.015% THD. You would be able to put out a fair bit more before distortion became a problem.
You know what, I'm going to send you a PM about something.

Yeah the third one looks good i have seen nothing but good reviews about these speakers and i need a decent set to be louder then the 2 L7;s lol. Yeah i got to get one of those spl 2000d amps to to power the subs
You got 2 L7s as well? In a ported enclosure? If so how big is the box and how do they sound? I've only got my L7s in sealed and they go alright. I wish I had a SPL-2000D to power them, and one day money permitting I will hit Joe up for one.

Not quite yet, ABS module and air-con first. You wouldn't believe how hot it is having a black car and no air-con.

I'd look for at least 200Wrms if they're your primary speakers. I have the model above from the previous range (Z6) in the front of my car with 200Wrms and it's not enough as the amp overheats after about 45mins of loud music.

Nah subs arent in a box yet im lookin at a sealed enclosure.
So 200wrms ok thats alot of power for them isnt it?
They only get that much power if you turn it up that high. It allows headroom so you don't run a lower power amp into distortion.
ok cool yeah hmmm from the sounds of it there going to be some dam loud speakers
If you buy them, and dont like their sound......i'll do the honourable thing and take them off your hands
Havent heard a set of the pro 60s, heard the older Z6s and was extremely impressed with their output and clarity......i dont think you'll be giving them up anytime soon haha.
150db in a commodore =
haha its always worth a try isnt itYeah im lookin at gettin them early next month with an amp and see how they go until i get my amp for my subs.
Any recommendations for some coaxs for the rear doors?
Mate do not rape the SQ of those Bostons by putting anything in the rear doors. Those Bostons with 200wrms will be more than you ever need plus some, so don't bother. If you got money for rear speakers, spend it on something like deadening for the front doors. Or if you want to get real picky, build fiberglass enclosures for the Bostons, mid-bass would be phenomenal.

haha would it be to much of i put a set of the pro's in the rear doors as well? Would this mess with the sound quality
Would you go to a concert and stand there with your back facing toward the stage?? same thing
Rear speakers, are for rear passengers, and since your not sitting in the back, there's no point. If you have the money to put the pro's in the rear, spend it on something else. Deaden the shit out of your front doors instead.
ok cheers shall do
Its just that i have seen cars with a whole heap of components in their cars. Is it just for looks and no go?
Do 22's and noen's and a 5 inch exhaust make you go faster?

yeah just a question as i was just wondering i have seen these sort of setups before
You see a lot of show cars, using lots of speakers, mainly because it gives them the chance to build a fiberglass enclosure for them, and again show it of. It's just one more thing, that they get to customise. But usually if you look at the speakers themselves, there normally nothing flash. It does nothing for there sound quality having that many speakers, nor does it make it any louder. Your typically leaky car door, is around 15-20L internally. These people who put 4 speakers on either door, and therefore giving each speaker a around a 5L enclosure, maybe less, which you should know, is less than ideal.
It dosen't make it any louder either. Fade your stereo all the way to the left, and then crank it, then while the volumes up, adjust the fader so it's back to even. Does it go twice as loud, because you have twice as many speakers playing, of course not.
