Hey guys.
I have a 2002 VY S pack Utility and recently when I got the windows tinted the battery was disconnected and when I got the car back the head unit displayed the message "IN VOICE". Which as most would know means that the head unit is shut down effectively for a voice call to come through the speakers from the stock mobile phone holder installed. Problem is, I don't have a mobile phone attached and also do not have a mobile phone ancient enough to plug into the holder that came with the car. I have Google'd fixes for this and so far have come up empty so I thought I'd try my luck here. So far I've found out that disconnecting the battery again doesn't work and also trying to reset the head unit back to factory settings doesn't work (via holding ON+preset 3 for 3 seconds). Does anyone know of any fixes for this or am I destined to be charged out of my ... by Holden to have the head unit reset there?
I would try disconnecting the hands free kit. Cut each wire one by one thats going to the hands free kit.
By the sound of it, the head-unit is receiving a signal from the kit saying a call is in progress etc. Could be a faulty head-unit, faulty hands free kit or fault in the wiring of the kit.

It shouldnt be, i come across this fairly often......usually its because someone cut all the wires going to the handsfree kit at the same time and triggered the "mute" mode in the head-unit. Havent come across a situation like yours though.....please report back your results, good or bad![]()

The old car kit when the battery was disconnected is probably now outputting an earth signal to the yellow/black wire at the phone kit plug which is located at the stereo wiring loom to the left of the stereo. Pull the glovebox out by holding the sides of it when open and jerking it towards the back of the car. It will unclip. Then the cover panel to the right has 2 screws which when unscrewed, you will slide it down to see the white phone kit plug and the phone kit brain. either unplug the wires going to that 6 pin connector or at the phone kit module. If in voice is still displayed and you can verify that the yellow/black wire has no resistance to earth on it with a test light or multimeter then the headunit is faulty.
Hey guys.
Thanks so much for the help luke0011, I pulled out the glove box as said, un screwed the 2 screws and behind the panel was a router/switch looking thing with 1 plug going into the phone socket and no plugs going into the other 2 computer lines?, then a line of wiring entering into a single white plugged (power for the unit) once I unplugged this the "IN VOICE" message on the head unit disappeared and I was able to have the enjoyment of listening to the radio again! So again thank you very much for the fix and hopefully down the track this thread will help someone else with the issue.
Happy Holidays!
