When you said you had a few blown fuses, were you doing this while the battery was connected? If so, disconect the battery before you go any further, and replace, and check all other fuses while your there. Have a read through this link, and make sure you haven't incorrectly connected one, or some of the wirees...

First off......DO NOT link any spare wires to other spare wires, ofcourse you will blow fuses and you'll have a good chance of damaging the unit.

Anyway, did you follow the wiring guide which is at the top of this section?
Heres the wires you should have connected:

Accesories - Yellow > Red wire on new unit
Constant - Orange/White > Yellow wire on new unit
Earth - Black/White > Black wire on new unit

    Speakers
Front Left (+) - Tan > White wire on new unit
Front Left (-) - Grey > White / black wire on new unit
Front Right (+) - Light/Green > Grey wire on new unit
Front Right (-) - Dark/Green > Grey / black wire on new unit

What i think is happening is you have stuffed up the red and yellow (constant and accessories) wires. Make sure they are connected to the ones above. Hopefully once this is done you have done permanent damage.

EDIT: VP, stop beating me to it
