Smile VE ute stereo install and pictures please.

hi there.. not sure if this has been covered anywhere but i haven't found it..

a thread just for ve ute installs, ideas, discussion and pics.

im starting this because i have ordered a ve ss ute at the end of january and ill be installing a stereo into it. and haven't seen anyone elses yet.

ill be running the old stuff from my statesman and that is..

    2 x kenwood 12" subs (kfc-w3011)
2 x pairs of kenwood component speaker systems (kfc-p605ie)
    1 x stereo bridgeable amp (kac-7203)
    1 x 4 ch amp kenwood (kac-m645)

if i can get it all to fit.

both the amps have speaker level inputs so i was planing on enabling the rear speaker outputs on the factory H/U and taking advantage of these inputs on the amps.

i dunno if im in the right place if not please point me in the right direction any advice ideas or pics would be greatly appreciated.

I just finished doing this whole install on my VE sedan.

If your amp has got high level input, then you will not need a LOC.

The remote wire can be run to the spare plug that is under the glovebox. It's a brown wire.

Righto well sounds like I'll be laughing when the ute rocks up.
Got the mdf for the sub and speaker boxes today just got thoughts of how I'm plannin to do it all now. Hey well I guess if anyone has any late model ute pics or ideas it's all gonna be usefull food for thought.

I'm wondering where to fit the component speakers? Should I leave the stock door speakers and fit the two sets I have behind the driver and passenger seat?? Or replace the stock doors and tweeters and put one set in behind the seats?

    A set behind the seats?
Wont sound very good IMO, better off to just replace the stock speakers (crap) with new components, play around with tweeter mounting and run them off an amp.
Or, get really keen and make custom door pods for both sets of components

Hmmmm. Yeah fair enough. That is a keen way of going about it. Dunno if I'm up for that in a brand new ute. I'll take the advice on replacing the standards in the doors tho. The thing is I have another set and I'd like to use them. Might wait and see what I find space wise when I pick the ute up. 2 and a half weeks to go.
