hi all, ive mounted my monoblock 800w fan cooled, and my 300w alpine upside down in my boot, can it stuff anything up being upside down?? theyre secured there, dont wobble or ratlle at all, and im going to hide the wiring tonight,
Should be ok, but it'd be the first thing I'd be change if the amp shuts down from overheating.
Some purists and guys with top-end systems say not to do it. The heat sinks are in the top of the amp because heat rises. By mounting upside down, the heat will rise into the base of the amp where the circuits are and you run the risk of cooking something.
In reality though, for general use you should be right. I've done it before and had no problems. Up to you whether you want to risk it.
I've had my amps running upside down for almost a year, on the underside of my parcel shelf. worked a treat and no problems in winter but in summer they started to cut out.
Cheers.
From what I know it is high recommended not to run them upside down. But if you have it mounted directly to the metal shelf then the heat will dissapate through the back parcel shelf.
But again if the amp is worth anything then I would be finding else where to mount.
Why not try and make up a top hat section and mount that to the parcel shelf then mount the amp on top of it. There is always more then one way to skin a cat lol.

Noun 1. awe - an overwhelming feeling of wonder or admiration; "he stared over the edge with a feeling of awe"
2. awe - a feeling of profound respect for someone or something; "the fear of God"; "the Chinese reverence for the dead"; "the French treat food with gentle reverence"; "his respect for the law bordered on veneration"
The heatsinks should still do their job due to their physical connection to the board.
Yeah ive seen alot of people mount some serious amps upside down under the parcel shelf.....ive done it a few times and never had a problem?
Edit: Just found a pic of one i did, over 2 years ago and saw the guy the other day....no problems.
150db in a commodore =
seems like i'm the only one that has had a problem with it haha, its only in summer i have a problem though
Had mine mounted upside down in boot all summer long and never had a problem, sure it gets warm in there but nothin bad has happened.
