Should be ok, but it'd be the first thing I'd be change if the amp shuts down from overheating.

Some purists and guys with top-end systems say not to do it. The heat sinks are in the top of the amp because heat rises. By mounting upside down, the heat will rise into the base of the amp where the circuits are and you run the risk of cooking something.

In reality though, for general use you should be right. I've done it before and had no problems. Up to you whether you want to risk it.

I've had my amps running upside down for almost a year, on the underside of my parcel shelf. worked a treat and no problems in winter but in summer they started to cut out.

    Cheers.

From what I know it is high recommended not to run them upside down. But if you have it mounted directly to the metal shelf then the heat will dissapate through the back parcel shelf.
But again if the amp is worth anything then I would be finding else where to mount.
Why not try and make up a top hat section and mount that to the parcel shelf then mount the amp on top of it. There is always more then one way to skin a cat lol.

The heatsinks should still do their job due to their physical connection to the board.

if the heat sinks did have any impact on the heat it would be extremely minimum due to the simple fact that heat rises, and due to the fact that the heat sinks are facing down i can not see how they will work. imo
