Default gm-6300f amp for front splits and sub?

    hey guys

im thinking of buying a pioneer gm-6300f 4ch amp (its $150) to power my front splits and a 12" sub.

    amp specs are: Max Output 4 x 120W or 2 x 300W (4Ω)
    RMS 4 x 60W / 2 x 150W (bridged)

fronts speaker specs are: Pioneer TS-A1702C
    Watts MAX 230 Watts
Watts Nominal Power Handling 50 Watts

I haven't bought a sub yet and im not sure what i'll get but thinking of a 12" pioneer sub.

Would the amp have enough power to power both the splits and a 12" pioneer sub? and if any1 has any suggestions on a sub let me know

    thanks

That amp will power the splits and a sub without too many dramas, its a little underpowered but provided its tuned properly it'll be fine.

Pioneer make some decent entry-level subs so i dont see a reason not to go with one, whatever brand it is just make sure it has a single 4 ohm voice coil or 2x 2 ohm voice coils. This just means you'll have an impedance that matches the amplifier.

Not sure if your looking for a sub and box, or just the sub, but heres a few examples of Pioneer subs:

    $200 Sub

if its underpowerd does that mean the amp will overheat? im not looking to have a top end sound system just want it sounding a bit better than what it sounds like now with a bit of bass. Im looking to get a sub and a box (maybe somethign like the TS-W306C) i've seen some ppl seeling em on ebay.

It wont make your amp overheat mate, the ub just wont be filling its full potental but it'll still sound good and i'd say it'll give you what your looking for. I have run splits/sub off a similar amp for 6 months now and its been great.

Yep just as sweefu said, it shouldnt overheat. Just make sure (like all amp installs) that the gains are set properly and you know the maximum volume setting on the head-unit. Pushing it louder can easily result in a blown speaker or subwoofer.

The W306C is a great woofer for the money, its great to see youve actually done a little bit of research before choosing components and posting this up
