Ok, please bare with me as I have no idea about this. I am wondering if a VY exec Blaupunkt stereo can be connected to a factory amp that is standard in the Calais? Where abouts are the factory amps mounted in the higher luxury models? I am after just a little better sound quality and would assume that a factory holden amp would be easier to install than an after market one, ie the plugs and all that might already be there? Or am I kidding myself? I already have 60 watt speakers in front doors and some ones in the parcel shelf that are better than the paper cone factory ones that were in the rear doors.
I am not looking for a "surround sound, blast my eardrums" type of stereo, just a little better than having no amp at all. Would the wiring be there to just plug a factory type amp straight in? I know this is a lot to ask, but would appreciate any help at all. thank you guys.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
AFAIK Holden didnt pre-wire every model, so i dont think the wiring would be there.
Also, the factory amp is designed to power 2 8" subwoofers on the parcel shelf. So unless your planning on installing the factory subs too, it would be no use to you (running full range speakers i assume).

No, the parcel shelf speakers are 8" subs (got them for nothing off my neighbour) They are cheap shit pioneers, but if I could put in an amp (factory type) then I would consider changing them for somethimg better. Holden boy, do you know where the factory amp is mounted?
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
No i dont know where its mounted in the VYs, probably on the underside of the parcel shelf (accessed from the boot) like alot of other makes / models.
OK, well considering youve got 8" subs already, i can see why you want to go down the factory amp route. By in all honesty, i dont think the wiring will be there.
I think you'll be better off going with an aftermarket amp if the wiring isnt there. Much easier to install and almost any aftermarket amp will have more power than the stock one, not to mention an adjustable low pass filter and gain setting (i dont think the factory one has either).

I think there's a kit on ebay you can buy which consists of wiring and factory amp. But yea in this case I don't really think you get what you pay for, I think aftermarket would be cheaper and better route to take.
"Nonsense, this is the kind of coverings what we humans wear at this period of time. I'm quite sure of it."

Pretty sure Holmart also does Genuine stereo upgade, eg. full upgrade kit from the calais..

Ok thank you guys for your time and effort, I shall see how it goes, might become a future project.

my sv6 came with a factory upgraded stereo with the amp =]
it is placed between the inner? metal wall and the outer panel? Still behind the carpet lining. if that makes sense?
Comes with a metal bracket and just sticks to it. Didnt even know i had an amp till i ripped apart my car a bit.
Anyway it is connected via 2 hi-low(aux) converters which are placed just infront of rear parcell shelf speaker cavities.
Hope that makes some sort of sense and helps
