Im going for the sub inder the tray with vg ute mads encloser design. Wich is a recommended sub for that box?? Anyone used that desgin before?? how does it go with the sub you have??
Sorry if this has been asnwerd heaps of times. i have searched this forum but havent found the true answer.
just use the VG to VS sub box which is a thread in car audio, works well, just make sure you use good gear. Cheap gear = cheap (read CRAP) sound, Good gear = good sound. One thing I will say is while you have to tank cover off, you may aswell check all your fuel breather hoses, mine were all broken, so I replaced them at the same time![]()
"I realize you were young and inexperienced at the time, but in hindsight you should have chosen your parents more wisely."
OK yes im going for this design:
VG to VS ute Subwoofer enclosure with measurements
Gonna get this Alpine Type s sub:
NEW ALPINE SWS-1223D TYPE-S 12" 900 WATT CAR SUB WOOFER - eBay Car Subwoofers, Car Subwoofers Enclosures, Car Electronics, Electronics. (end time 16-Feb-10 14:47:35 AEDST)
You think this sub will do the job??
Done my research and compared it to the sub used in the design and the mounting depth and mounting diameter are next to identical. You think it will work?? Most def get the alpine monoblock to suit running the sub at full power if that helps with the question.
Thnx in advanced

$123 for postage?! WTF?!
If you want a slim sub of good quality I would suggest this: Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - VIBE Slick 12
Customer feedback from this item has been excellent. Check to see if the depth is fine. Just to make your life easier I will also take $100 off the price just to get it out there. If thats not good value for money then I don't know what is.

Joe, the postage is that price because it's coming from US. Why you would ship from US to Aus on a single item i don't know. Not sure if the OP realised where the item was coming from, or whether he was just using the add as an example of the product he had in mind.
Hahaha, I wasn't sure if it was an example either. I still like my Slick12 better though, as I obviously would![]()

What is the internal volume of those boxes? I'll probably search it up in the morning but if you were to grab it for me it would make life more simple. As far as I remember its a sealed design with 2 major segments and wasn't that large. A larger box would more than likely be optimal but at the end of the day when your working with a limited space you need to take advantage of what you have. If your looking for a decent amount of bass which is clean I'm more than confident that the Slick12 will deliver.

The box is suted to a 31lt encloser.
Oh so its 1 cubic ft. The sub will work fine in there. Most people use a box of that size anyway and since its going in a smaller space its going to be much more effective than if it was in a sedan. A slick 12 would be able to get a decent amount of output out of that and its a decent sub so its sound quality will also be good. That said, there is no need to limit yourself, you could even get something as good as a BlackAir 12 if you wanted even more sound quality. Its all really going to be dependent on how accurate you want your sound to be and how much output you would like.

Ive explained and shown pics of the dual bandpass enclosure for the vs to vz utes. The box design mentioned above fires the woofer directly into a metal panel and only partly into the vent going into the cabin. This causes the woofer to wear harder and faster than normal as well as it being exposed to the outside environment. It also rattles the outside of the car which is personally embarrasing. The bandpass enclosure using a 10 inch woofer ported directly into the cabin is the most effective way of getting the sound from the sub into the cabin without sacrificing space.
Ummm Luke? The enclosure was designed so the sub sits on an angle, so it's not firing directly into or against metal! Also, the young girl that purchased the ute off of me, came 1st and 2nd in two S.Q events. I made sure it didn't vibrate!
P.S... I can't seem to find your thread with the specs?
