hey guys im looking at getting the rest of my system completed.
I want to go with Rockford Fosgate, i went to LifeStyle Store in north Parramatta and they came back with $900 complete. This sub pumped haaaard as in their room imagine in the tray...
Package:
* 12" P2 Sub, Dual Voice Coils and 500w RMS $285
* Option Audio 4 channel 500W RMS Amp $249
* A Custom Box to fit in my tray next to fuel tank $250
* Install and Wiring Kits $116
What i was wanting to know is this a good deal..
Its a alrite deal but I wouldnt run the sub off the 4ch by itself, id get a mono to run it.
Thats if its just for the sub, if sub on 2ch n speakers on other 2ch, then it will work but will be under powered
You want tha coils to get the same amount of gain, the only way to do this is with a multimeter, thus its easier to get a mono.
You dont want the voice coils to get different amount of power as they will work against each other
yeah .. i was ganna leave the speakers running off the head unit and just the sub on the 4 chan. my speakers atm are running on the unit and are clear and loud as it is
Lifestyle at north parra are pretty decent with their prices, i've got a few mates that swear by the place.
and i agree with calais_cruzin, run the sub from a mono.
Check out my ride!
I agree that he should run the sub with a mono amp, not a 4 channel.
But this is wrong. The voice coils won't work against each other. Each coil produces a certain amount of force, with 2 coils this force is added together. It doesn't matter if the power levels are different, it will still add together.
Read this or just search for "ruin" to get to the important part.
How do you plan to set the gain accurately with a multimeter? An oscilliscope works much better because you can see when clipping occurs.
ow ok thanks guys i might have to check it out, because when he showed me how it went he told me there was no mono running just the 4 ch.. maybe he made a mistake.....
So lets get this straight, it wont stuff it, it just wont work as well as having the same amount of force across both coils.
As for the multimeter part, that was sumfink that bigwillie@mea was saying couple weeks ago to a customer in his shop, i was just eaves dropping while i was waitin to pick up a amp.
If one gain is slightly different to the other you won't even know. If you had one gain set correctly and the other one set to minimum, it would just be getting about half the power so be about 3dB quieter.
