SPL Competing?

Hey all,
got a bit of an idea here.. My mate has a Subaru Fiori, and together we have a heap of car audio gear (namely, 8x 6x9's, 2xalpine type S 12", 2xinfinity 700wrms mono, 1x800wrms option audio mono, 1x1200wrms option mono, 4x111wrms infinity)
We also have some batteries and 2awg/4awg wiring.. and alot of MDF

My question is.. could we make a large ported box to fit in the rear of his fiori, hook up extra battery or two, run the mono's two the sub(s) and some 6x9's and try to make some noise?? Could we run the extra batteries in a series from the original battery with 2awg cable?

This is just for fun really, because we can..

LOL, alrighty.....dont worry too much about the 6x9s, unless you want some full range sound too

Use the 2x Type S's, and probably the 1200wrms OA mono......build a huge box with a huge slot port (if you want designs i can make up a few) and see how you go, just "install" the extra batteries near the amps and run one 2AWG wire to the front battery / alternator.


BTW, great to hear someone wants to have some SPL fun!

Haha yeah with all these gear handy and there are local spl comps, i figure we should have a decent crack at it.

We sorta wanted to try to use the 6x9's lol can we make a seperate box and give it a shot? We'd be half happy if we blew them up.. do they create any decent volume?

Also it looks rediculous in a subaru fiori

Well you have got 8 6x9s, so yeah, make a box up for all eight haha. Im sure you could get high 130s, maybe even into the 140s with them

If those Infinity monos are 1 ohm stable, wire 4 of the 6x9s in parallel to each amp....build a nice big box with a decent port and away you go, lol.

Haha will be getting to building the box next monday i think, or at least have a decent crack at it.

Anyone have a rough idea what box size/port size you need for alot of 6x9's????

Well, i'd be going with a large box. So around 0.5 cu.ft. per 6x9, 4-5 cubes will do it. Once you make up the dimensions of the box, i can tell you the dimensions of the port.
