Default Place to run power cable through VS firewall?

Hey everyone, i own a 97 Vs auto and im going to be installing my amp this weekend, this being the first time ive installed a sub before, im wondering where i should run the power cable through the firewall? Ive been told i can run it through where clutch cable would go through, being an auto this hole would be unused. Id rather drill as a last resort so where is the easiest/best spot to do this?

    Cheers guys

in my vy i ran the power cable inside conduiet tubing so it looks neat and hidden then ran the power cable in the conduiet along side the main wiring loom and in through the wiring loom grommet, a bit tricky and can be time consuming but looks nice and neat and a good spot to run it through. comes out inside the car on the passenger side near the kick panel area.

Through the clutch cable grommit is the easiest. Just take the grommit out and drill a hole through it. It's to the right (and down a bit) of the brake booster

Definatly through the existing wiring loom is the neatest. Not the easiest though, but if you want to do a manual conversion too in future it keeps the option open. Just use a strong stanley knife to cut a cross (+) in the top of the grommet (being careful not to get too close to the cables, you should be able to see it when you look under the drivers side where the pedals are. You may need to feel around for it with your hand. Then just push the cable through and pull all the way through (so push through from engine bay and pull it all through). Then if you want just use a sealant to seal up around the cable. This allows you to run the power down the drivers side with other power cables and keep audio on the other side of the vehicle to minimise distortion.

I'll try get a pic of how neat it looks hopefuly within the next day or so.

Many people just go the clutch grommet one because it's easy to go through it though. But IMHO it doesn't look neat at all!

If you even might possibly consider doing a manual conversion in future run it through the main grommet. It is more difficult to push it through from the cabin side that it is from the engine bay.

Heres some pics (ignore all the crap in there, i never clean the engine bay and drive through dirty puddles):

Showing path from battery up to firewall

Top end of install with a small view of it going through the firewall

Easiest place to run through the power grommet.

    Overall view showing neat isntall.

If you look at the last picture too, if your going to do it through the clutch grommet that's a lot closer to the engine and exhaust setup. Another member found the other day that their 0AWG cable touched the exhaust and damaged it pretty badly. Just another thing to think about

Yep. Clutch cable grommit. Either rip it out or put a hole through it - your choice.
