    Default hiding an arial

I am thinking of hiding the radio arial under the bonnet or somewhere else so it isn't visible.
Would that interfere with anything and would i still get good reception?

    Thanks

Not sure about where abouts in Sydney you are, but down here in Melbourne when i was changing my aerial i was getting full reception in my vehicle when i was changing the electric aerial when it was down! If you no longer want those ones you can also get aerials that run along the top of your windscreen out of sight and are apparently better than the stock aerials.

Aerial under the bonnet? LOL! you woud not get as good reception as an external aerial. Why do you want to do this?
    That which you resist persists.

You can still keep the antenna mounted just below where it already mounts. Im assuming your reason for this is cosmetic as you want to fill the hole and repaint the panel? Your FM reception will still be acceptable but it will be reduced. AM reception will be reduced more significantly. You can also use an on glass antenna or mount the antenna in the front bumper bar where it is least likely to be be shielded by metal.

why dont you take it out and test if it works under the bonnet. or mayybe put it laying between your back seat and back window. or bend it to be round and put it in your wheel arch

im looking into the Ford BA film aerials that mount above the rear dimister. In my cuz's BA FM channels are still received strong long after the VS's standard aerial reception has dropped out. I've just purchased a cheap electronic windscreen mount aerial from hong kong just to trial out until i get some time to wander down to Ford parts and get me a film aerial.

better reception and gives you the option to remove the aerial too, which is just what your after.

I had a electronic hidden Ariel under my dash and worked really well, u can get away with putting them behind your glove box seeing that the Ariel connector is just there and you will need a earth and accessories for it
