    Default VZ stereo HELP please

    Hi Everyone,

    New here & to commodores.

I'm trying to put my stereo into my VZ wagon and having some issues. It fits great but the wiring is confusing me.

I've cut the factory plug off so i've got all the wires there ready to join to my stereo's loom. ( jvc headunit )

    as posted on here::

    VN - VZ

    Accesories - Yellow
    Constant - Orange/White ( CANT FIND THIS ONE!! )
    Illumination - Brown/White
    Earth - Black/White
    12V OUTPUT - Yellow/Red
Radio Mute - Yellow/Black (VT onwards)
Antenna up - White (VR onwards)
Antenna down - Blue (VR onwards)
Illumination OUTPUT - Grey (VT onwards)

I may have blown my fuse when i touched a wire by mistake cause now i can't get 12v out of the accessories either. ( which i notice stays on even after you take the key out of the ign for a while )

Some help would be greatly appreciated!!
    cheers.

Umm I'm not reading this right. Whats the problem? Blown fuse? Change the fuse.

And the car will keep giving accessories power until you open the drivers door or the time limit is hit.

    1. Is there a 2nd fuse box? I don't see one for the acc / stereo in the box under the bonnet....

    2. Need someone to explain my lack of constant power wire.

    1. Under the steering column.

    2. Hmmm don't know, just make a new one. Use any at the back of the fuse box.

Just remember if you make a new constant power, to put a fuse in it.

Welcome to the forums, you probably have blown the fuse when you cut the wires. Pull the fuse panel down under the steering column and check the radio and cigarette lighter fuses. Next time just cut the wires one at a time and try not to let the wires touch.

But Luke0011 then where we get to see cool light shows. Like the time I undid the positive battery terminal with my spanner, and touched the handle to the chassis.

A picture for ya. You didn't pull down the cover did you. LOL.

Just get you hand between the cover and steering column, pull towards seats and down.

According to the attached wiring diagram, look for 'Orange/Black' (constant 12v). Also check the fuse, you may have blown it.

I know i have 2x orange blacks which both had no power when i tested them last night. If they're on a separate fuse to the radio then that could be why. I'll check the fuse box and hopefully get power to one of those O-bK's tomorrow.

    Cheers

So do you lose all your settings when you turn the car off? Because that would suck.

That's why you remove the ground terminal first

yeah i'm pretty sure if i ever sell this the person buying will be happy with a better than factory stereo. Can't believe how much better it sounds now even through stock speakers.

Yes, yes, I know, my bad. I was actually doing UP the nut, and I had like 20 minutes to drive 30 minutes to work, I was just chucking everything back together.
