    Isn’t there an accessories wire you would need to connect also so that it actually turns on?

    If your head unit has both constant + and accessories +, both will have to be connected to 12v supply for head unit to work.

    Yup, both positive wires must be connected to the battery post to test, like Rattatack said...put a fuse in there incase the HU is stuffed and decides to short the battery out
    You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!

    if u dont already know the constant power or Memory lead is yellow to the + side, ignition is red to the + side, earth is Black to the - side and if u wanna get it to light up then the illumination wire is orange with a white stripe to the + side. these are the usual situation anyhow and if u already knew then sorry for treating u like a child

    Be aware that the common wiring colours available on this site and SC are not always the same for every VN. For example, if I remember correctly, my VN Calais had orange and white as constant and had no illumination wire (which doesn't bother me).

    You can test each one of them with a test light or multimeter. Ensure all fuses are ok and not blown. When you register a voltage accross the following, you have;

    Constant - Ignition off - Negative to metal chassis, Positive to one of the wires.
    Accesories - Acc to on - Negative to metal chassis, Positive to a different wire.
    Illumination - Headlights/Dash lights on - Negative to metal chassis, Positive to a different wire again.

    If you can't work out your ground wire (should be black), you'll need a multimeter to measure resistance between the wires and the chassis, or simply run another eath.

    [Edit] its pretty pathetic this site wont let you say streetcommod0res

    wikid 1 question though. i have a wire that was running from the dash to the postitve terminal on the amp. tha yellow wire which is coming from the rca is merging with this as it must get it power from here(constant power i think). after they merge i cut the redwire off to the amp so it should be still getting power should it although i cut the red wir off(after the merge). also power is coming to the deck becuse you can make the cd come in and out however the display will not light up any suggestions
