    Default Front speaker amp question

Im gonna ask this question because i've searched and couldn't find an answer unless i've missed it.. Im looking to amp up my front 6" clarion speakers, im pretty sure they're 200W they also have the clarion tweeters in the dash that came along with them. I don't have a clue so how exactly would i go by doing that, im guessing a mono block would work but wiring and other equipment needed?... I have a sub also connected to a 2-channel amp so will i need another power supply?

Ok, firstly , a mono block amp, is for a sub (mono meaning one, one sub (one speaker) one channel)
You have 2 channels, (2 speakers) so you need a 2 channel amp.Easy sollution, use the 2 channel amp you already have to run your speakers, and buy a monoblock, to power your existing sub.

Next, your speakers are not rated at 200W.That will be their peak power output, which is irreleavant. You need to find their nominal, or RMS rated input power. But regardless of that, any amp is better than no amp, so the one you already have, will most likely be sufficient for your use.
You are going to need to locate the crossover unit, this is the device responsible for splitting up the high/low frequncies, that are being sent to your tweeter/woofer, in your split component set.You need to locate this because currently the input wire will be connected to your head unit, which will need to be disconeected, and connected to output on the amp instead.

This next bit apllies to the addition of a second amplifier, to now run your existing subwoofer.Assuming your running aftermarket head unit, because you already have a sub, you are going to need a set of RCA's, which are responsible for sending the sound signal from your head unit to your amplifier.Your also going to connect a 12V trigger wire from the amp to your head unit,(or it's also possible to branch it off from your existing trigger wire, on your 2 channel amp. You will also need both power and earth wire, for your amplifier..All this is contained in a "wiring kit" and i suggest buying it as a kit, rather than individual items. You will have to run the power wire through the firewall, from your battery, to your boot, in order to connect to your amplifier. The earth wire can just be connected somewhere within the boot(basically any bare metal surface, that is in contact with the chassis). But, depending on the gauge of the power wire you already have on your existing amp, you may be able to use a distribution block. You will need to find out what gauge it is, before i can tell you whether or not a distribution block is an option.

If this sounds like too much, get a pro to do it!!

No, the RCA cables, are connected from your head unit, to your amplifier. They are what send the sound signals from your source(head unit) to your amp.You need to connect your speakers (via the crossover unit that i mentioned earlier) to the amplifier. Also note, your amplifier would have been bridged before, and would have had the LPF (low pass filter) turned on.You need to change the amp to either full range, or high pass (if its an option) otherwise if set at full pass, your head unit should offer a HPF option.Locating the crosover could prove a little difficult though, and could even involve removal of interior panels, door trims ect.

yeh but u might want to run another power and earth cable because running it with the same one as your running with your sub now will overload and could short your system out. i recommend using a higher fuse aswell just incase the unthinkable happens.

He may not need to run another power cable if for e.g his previous power cable was a 4awg.
He can use a 4 into 8awg distribution block which would most likely be sufficient for his needs.I wouldn't suggest use a higher rated fuse.If you use a higher rated fuse then there is the chance the fuse will not react quick enough and you could potentially damage something.
