Im about to pick up these "Dual 12" Kicker Comp subs in kicker ported box"

The more information you give us, the more we can give you.If we know the model number, we can look at the impedance levels of the subs, then once we know your budget, we can begin making reccomendations for you.
^^^^ He's on the money mate.. if you can tell us which subs they are or the specs of the subs we can give you an idea of an amp/wiring.
Cheers.

whatever you do dont get a kicker amp, mine always overheats.![]()
it's running 2 6x9s and a sub. if anything is too much for it, its the sub. I had a less powerful one but swapped with a mate cos his amp couldnt run the sub (that I have now) at all. The sub could be damaged as well.
I thought amps could and did overheat, thanks for clearing that up for me.

Anyway, back to the topic guys......if they are 4 ohm single voice coil then you will need an amp that produces 300-500wrms at 2 ohms, if depends on how much you want to spend, heres a few examples:
Clarion 400wrms @ 2 ohm monoblock, approx. $200.
Kenwood 500wrms @ 2 ohm monoblock, approx. $220.
Kicker 300wrms & 2 ohm monoblock, approx $250.
There will be little difference in sound between those three options, only price, build quality and cosmetics will change.

Hmm, well after doing abit of research and going off those specs it seems each sub is 2 ohm, so thats a final impedance of either 1 or 4 ohms.
This gives you a few options as far as an amp goes........so you only want to spend $200 on an amp?
Heres a few suggestions that would be suitable:
Jaycar 1 x 500wrms amp, RRP $219.
Clarion 1 x 320wrms amp, Ryda Price $221.05.
Kenwood 1 x 500wrms amp "Clearance" from Ryda $198.85.

My vote goes to the Jaycar amp.For the money your spending, sound quality, even build quality, shouldn't even be on the cards.Raw power, and bang for you buck is what you need. When you say you want a good amp, well for that type of money, good to me is ample power, and a warranty![]()
A friend of mine was running these same kickers on a Kenwood 1000w Monoblock, it makes 500wrms and it runs these subs very well.
The amp brand new is $200 and the Part number is KAC-8104D.

ive got the kicker 400rms *i think it is* monoblock running my comps and i got told thats the right amp for them but kicker amps are expensive and other brands will do the same job
