Hey guys im currently setting up a system in my sister vt calais, for the rcas do i just cut the ends off and wire them into the speaker wires????
cheers max
NO
Doing it the way youve described causes a high level (speaker) signal to be fed into the low level (RCA) input on the amp. This almost always results in poor / distorted sound quality and sometimes causes faults in components.
You can do it one of two ways:
1) Use a line out converter (LOC).
2) Use amp amplifier with "high level" inputs.
In each case, you need to tap into the existing speaker wires and either connect them to the LOC (then use RCAs from the LOC to the amp) or the high level inputs on the amp.
