hi guys im fitting a new headunit in my car, the wiring has been chopped, so its not just a case of geting an adaptor or anything.
i have figured out all the wiring, but am wondering about 2 things
for the speakers, which is positive and negative, or does it matter?
grey front left
tan front left
lite green front right
green front right
yel/blue rear left
brn/black rear left
blue/black rear right
blue/orange rear right
which of these are +ve and -ve
also want to make sure
yelow is the ignition wire?
orange/black the batery?
and black/white the ground?
and lastly there is 2 grey wires, one does front left speaker and one goes to instrument illumination, how do i know which is which? as there is no diferent markings on them?!!
thanks guys
It does matter whether you connect the speakers the right way around or not, wiring them out of phase can cause bass cancellation. Here are the colours:
Speakers
Front Left (+) - Tan
Front Left (-) - Grey
Front Right (+) - Light/Green
Front Right (-) - Dark/Green
Rear Left (+) - Brown/Black
Rear Left (-) - Yellow/Blue
Rear Right (+) - Blue/Orange
Rear Right (-) - Blue/Black
Yes the power / acc / earth wiring you have is correct. To find out which wire is illumination get yourself a multimeter or test light and test each wire while the parking lights are turned on, one wire should have power when the lights are on, and no power when theyre off.

cheers for that mate
just did the radio today, worked out well. only one speaker in the rear door not working, so il have a look during the week, its just a case of taking the cover off where the speaker is, not the whole door card is it?
No you need to take the whole interior off to access the speaker. More than likely its a break in the wire in between the door and the car (in the door jamb). Either that or you havent connected the wiring properly at the head-unit.
