Okay so i've got 2 12" 500w RMS subs, a 1500w monoblock amp, 2 100w clarion fronts and 2 100w MTX rears and some tweeters
my question is once i get a head unit will it be able to withstand the speakers without the need for a 4 ch amp or am i kidding myself? and if i wanted to hook 6 speakers up in future how would i manage that?
reason i ask is because i've already hooked up the 4 speakers to the stock head unit and after testing em a bit, i started getting alot of static thru the remaining stock speakers and both the new/stock speakers started cutting out (They havnt blown so is it possible its just a loose connection or the head units just no good for em?)
i dont know shit about this stuff so an explanation of wat is happening would be muchly appreciated![]()
That's far from a big system
A head unit will run those 4 speakers, but they will always sound better with an amp.
Hook 6 speakers up? You mean fronts, rear doors and parcel shelf? There's no point. Spend more on your front speakers and just have rear door speakers or parcel shelf speakers.
Are you saying you have 6 speakers hooked up to your stock head unit? If so, the reason for the static is because, basically, you're making the head unit's amp run hard than it was made to. It will cook eventually. Even aftermarket units can't run 6 speakers, they have 4 sets of speaker wires for a reason![]()
