It is possible, but you will need to get the SSV head unit reprogrammed to suit the H-Vac etc in your SS so not straight forward

    See here for info

There are very basic treble and bass controls on the SS headunit. They can be found under the audio menu (press the button in the middle of the volume knob). The SSV unit also has the same minimal setting adjustments. The screen is the main difference between the two units.

Just spoke to Holden n they reckon this isn't possible reason being something about the Ss not having a climate control. And also if there was a way to go around the climate control issue u still can't fit a second hand dash in something about a number that cannot be used in two vehicles it gets burned on the memory of the original vehicle

And a new one apparently would cost about 2000 for the lot.

Ok, this mod does work. I've got a 2006 Omega and I've installed a headunit from a 2008 Maloo, which is the Calais headunit that is also in the SSv.

You can buy it brand new now:
COMMODORE VE SS-V RADIO CD UPGRADE SUITS SS SV6 & OMEGA - eBay, Other, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 24-Aug-10 18:52:17 AEST)

or check out the G8Board.com, the member Tolrtd on there has developed an HVAC module. Enabling you to put in an aftermarket headunit.
