It never ceases to amaze me how many people thing wattage is everything in a speaker, Jb Hi Fi, Wow all those big companies have made people think “Wicked! 300rms” When really it is such a load of crap.

On topic though, You have posted in the wrong section, I would say congratulations but you are just ANOTHER person who doesn’t read properly.

To possibly answer your question though, You mention 400watt speakers, Probably 150rms (By the box –Good luck feeding them that though). Have you taken notice that your H/U only produces 50watt max? You are getting them to crackle when they are loud as they aren’t being fed clean power.

I hope Greg doesn’t mind me saying this...

    Love,

Many people think that because they replace their speakers with a better set, that it's going to sound better. This isn't always the case. You need to know, that your speakers are reproducing a signal, that you send to them. You could spend $2000 on replacing your speakers, only for it to sound the same, and in some rare cases, worse. You can't expect any real gain by replacing your speakers, and leaving the sound of your source, the same.

The rated input power of a speaker is pretty much meaningless in the real world. On paper it allows you to do some comparisons, but that's like comparing 2 cars by paper, then getting both on the road.A Kia Cerato has the most power in it's class, yet a Corolla will still wipe the floor with it at 15kw less.....

Now let's look at the money you spend.People think, ok, i've just spent $100 on a set of replacement speakers, these are obviously going to be significantly better than my stock ones. Why?Who told you they would be better? Lets say the price is $100, but most store's will go below that, and even at some stage have a sale, where the speakers could be as ow as half price.Consider the true value and quality of these speakers, you'll probably find that they are very close to that of those fitted by the factory.
