hey guys bought some new speakers yesterday for my 01 vx,
anyway i put the in both sides were working fine now the lh side front and back do not work
the wires to the head unit are fine and the speakers are hooked up fine
what could cause this also it is not set to balance or fader
If its not balanced to the right then its either a speaker fault (not likely for two speakers to stop working at the same time) or a wiring issue. I know you said the wiring at the head-unit and speakers are fine, but these are the two usual spots that cause trouble. Only other possibility is the wiring when it goes into the door in the door jamb, but again unlikely as both speakers stopped working at the same time.
Double check your connections at the speakers, i solder the wires on to remove this factor.
EDIT: what head-unit are the speaker connected to, stock or aftermarket?

yeh i fixed it i am just running the 2 that wouldnt work off the wires that were working, also there is a crackling when it gets to loud parts of the song, is that cos postive and negitave are wrong
Running two speakers off the one speaker output will result in a 2 ohm load on the internal head-unit amplifier. It wont last long before cooking itself......in other words, fix the problem rather than dodgying something up.

okay so i know it was dodgy but i dont know what the problem is so if i run 2 off one my head unit wont last long
Yes, thats probably why the speakers are crackling.
If the two left speakers are now working when you wire them to the right hand side speaker outputs then its not a wiring problem. Its either a connection problem at the head-unit (re-do the LH front and rear speakers properly) or the balance on the head-unit.
If neither of those fix the problem then your head-units' internal amp is faulty IMO.

okay thanks mate, how long will the head unit last with 2 off one, because im on my way to work,
It will last a long time IF you dont turn it up too loud. Running the amp at a lower impedance than whats its rated for and crank the volume it requires the amp to draw more current than it was designed for, which means internal circuitry etc gets hot and melts
So yeah, it'll be fine just dont turn it up too loud.![]()

okay cool ill make sure i fix it though thanks mate
