Hey guys. Recently went through all the effort of pulling out my dash to get behind my head unit, for the sole purpose of hooking up a cable for auxiliary input. Needless to say it's kinda annoying when it only comes out the rear speakers, even more annoying due to the fact that I currently have my rear outputs connected into a subwoofer (temporary setup lol)
It also plays through even when I have the head unit set to Compact Disc. The headunit is a Pioneer DEH P6550. Has anyone ever heard of a problem like this?
Also, does anyone know which wire is the trigger wire to the amp from this head unit?
Cheers, Matt.
Strange problem you have there. I have a similar unit, same display etc, i think its a P7550.
So the front speakers play fine when you use a CD or radio?
If so, i would say its a faulty aux input cable. Are you using the adaptors that change the stacker input to an aux input (RCA cables)?
The trigger wire will be the blue / white wire i believe.

Yep, front speakers work fine for CD and radio, it's weird though because when I have my ipod plugged in and playing, it will play through the headunit even when the source is set to CD, even while a CD is playing (can hear both at the same time)
I'm using a 3.5mm jack to red/white converter to plug my ipod in to the rear aux input. Probably doing something wrong :P I thought the input would've actually been a 3.5mm jack but there isn't one on the back. If only I had the instruction manual to check.
Cheers for that![]()
Are you sure its a rear aux input? Sounds to like youve plugged it into the rear RCA OUTPUTS?
What you need is an adapter for the stacker input, found on Ebay, here:

Hmm does sound like that, I don't see how it works though. How can audio go in through an output?
On one side of the back there's a SW output and L/R output, then on the other side on the end of about 10cm long cables there's rear outputs, but I just assumed that it was tagged wrong? haha silly me. But if the rear and front speakers are already plugged in, what are the RCAs for?
Cheers for the link too![]()
Its hard for me to explain what goes on inside a head-unit, StoneX will come along and explain i reckon
The RCAs are for connecting an external amplifier, basically they are the same as your speaker outputs but a much lower level, which helps with interference and noise etc.
The adapter in the link i supplied is what you want, connect it to the stacker input, then use your RCA > 3.5mm adapter to plug your ipod in. Then go into the menu on the head-unit and select the aux input as "on". It will then become an available source to choose from along with CD and tuner. Once youve got your ipod plugged in and playing, select AUX and away you go. Although you need to control the ipod from the ipod itself, and it wont charge etc. You can only adjust the volume / sound settings on the head-unit.

Ahhh thanks a million, makes a lot more sense to me now. Can't say that any of this was anywhere near a strong point for me, but it makes sense now
cheers mate.
