Hi All,
Bought a gem 1 owner (deceased) WH 5.7 V8 stato for $8K a few months ago. The car is in showroom condition except for a few small door dints etc. The best bit is the car has only done 38000Km :-) .
Anyway the Eurovox staker is giving me the beans , it plays a few track and skips and doesnt play some discs etc . I am thinking of replacing the head hunit , but will probably keep the existing factory speakers .
Now Im guessing the factory setup has an amp somewhere and Im wondering what problems Im going to run into hooking up a head unit to the factory wirring .
Im gessing the factory speakers would be different ohms than standard .
Basically If any WH stato owners have been down this path I would like to hear from them .
I know about the steering wheel controls . Im just worried about issues with impedance of the factory speakers / amp and if an aftermarket HU can handle a different load if the factory setup is different from 4 ohms.
Cheers
Matt
I think the statesman only has a separate amp for the subwoofer which is mounted on the parcel shelf. So the amp would require an audio input from the new head-unit if it has the stock subwoofer and you wanted to retain this, maybe someone with experience in the Statesman can clarify this etc. AFAIK the head-unit still powers the stock speakers. Also, they should still be 4 ohms. If in doubt, grab a multimeter and check the impedances on the speaker wires at the head-unit plug before installing the new head-unit.

I recently upgraded a mates WH headunit.
If you only have L/R front, L/R rear doors and 2 subs, it should be ok... The speakers are 4 ohms each.
If you have anymore speakers, check the speaker impedance per channel at the H/U.
The sub amplifier gets it's audio signal from the rear speakers.
