Need a single din headunit under $1000 needs to have feature like bluetooth and sat nav or at least have the capability to be done as add ons later.
Current audio set up is:
alpine type x splits (front)
alpine type x 6" co-ax. (rears)
alpine type x subs x2
alpine Pdx-4.150 ( powers fronts and rears )
alpine pdx-1.1000 ( powering subs )
the headunit doesn't need to be alpine cause there out of my price range.
Is double DIN an option?
Hmm, well to get a decent brand for under $1000 is going to be a little hard. Ive had a quick look online (through Ryda) and only found the Kenwood unit for around $1000, but it dosent have Bluetooth or GPS (both are "add on" components though).

If double DIN is an option (VT onwards), then the Pioneer AVIC-F310BT suits you perfectly. Its got bluetooth and GPS built in, Ryda is doing them for $830:

However, i have read reviews that commented on the 310 "feeling" a little cheap and plastic-like, also the GUI wasnt the best (again, a review i read, not my personal experience with the unit). But for that price and the features you get its not a bad option.
If youre willing to wait a little longer and save up some extra cash, i would highly suggest going with the next model up, the AVIC-F910BT. Ryda has them for $1550, but it has all the features you want, plus a larger 5.8" WVGA touchscreen (the 310 only has a 4.3" touchscreen) and the provision for a reversing camera (the 310 dosent). I fitted one of these units to a customers car two days ago and was extremely impressed with it. GUI seemed fast, GPS was excellent (went for a drive). As was bluetooth and iPod connectivity, i know this because i extensively tested both with my iPhone.

As far as audio adjusting goes, the 310 only has a 3 band parametric EQ whereas the 910 has a 7 band parametric EQ (i believe) and HPF / LPF.
So the bottom line is if you can go with a double DIN, and want to stretch that budget by 50%, i can almost guarantee you wont be disappointed with the 910.![]()

Don't really want to go double din because I reckon I've never seen an install in a vn I like
So its for a VN, ok.
So single DIN being the only option, then the Kenwood unit i linked above seems to be your only decent option for around the $1k mark. Even so you'll have to fork out probably close to another $1k on bluetooth and GPS packages for it.
I would personally stay away from generic eBay brands, in my experience they dont work properly, the build quality is lower and warranty (which is more than likely) is a pain.
