    What speakers are you looking at? Some of the gear they sell would be alright.

    Do you reasearch first i was going to buy some alpines a JB but the in found that i could get focal speakers for about $40 more

    It don't think it really matters if it's WOW, JB, or similiar, or a dedicated car audio outlet.Stores will buy the products which they think they will sell the most of.

    So what do you do? You do your research, find out what is available witihn your budget, find out who stock's them, listen to them, then find the best price.

    I reckon you'd get some pretty good speakers off ebay these days. I bought a set of Alpine 6.5" X-series splits for $350 incl freight from the states. They usually go for $700 here in Aus.

    Better than the usual crud like Sony or Kenwood. Just make sure you buy from a reputable seller.

    If you must buy locally, try local car audio or just audio specialists. Some have better deals than WOW or JB Hi Fi and usually bargain well if you pay cash up front.
