hi just a quick question bout my head unit
i installed it yesterday had a few issues when car is on ignition the head unit plays the music soon as i start the engine the music stops but the head unit still on and came out today and battery is flat not even enough power to unlock the doors
any help much appreciated thanks john
Assuming you fitted it to your listed ride (VP Berlina) refer to this thread VK-VZ Stereo wiring colours. and make sure that you have your power and accsesories wires wired up correctly. It is your acsesories wire which is responisble for shutting the unit off once your remove the key's from the vehicles ignition, otherwise the head unit will continue to draw power from the constant 12V until your battery is flat.
Yep just make sure youve got the constant power wire (yellow) and the accessories wire (red) connected to the right wires in your car. These would be:
Accessories (red) - Yellow in cars wiring
Constant (Yellow) - Orange/White in cars wiring.

thanks guy thats how i have it wired up i think the head unit is playing up so Ive taken it out but left the wiring there so ill have another look to make sure because when i start the motor the music drops out but the radio stays on like its playing music
So even a few seconds after the engine has been started theres still no sound?
Its either a wiring problem or a unit problem![]()

yeah the unit turns off then back on but with no sound I am sure i got the wiring write took me 2hrs sounds like might be time for new head unit
Its strange, because the unit plays music fine when the key is on "acc" leads me to think its not a head-unit problem. Double check all your wiring (including speaker wires), ive never heard of that before.

yeah ill have another look tomorrow ive installed a few head units before in mine and my dads old cars but this is the first time Ive had it happen to me so that's whats confusing me
if you have the wiring loom disconnected it might be a quick idea to hook it directly to the battery and run a single speaker off it and test it there, never heard of it either tbh, just connect both constand and ACC to the + on the battery and connect the earth to a solid earth, if it does it while connected there then its definately a HU problem...doubtful the voltage difference between the car being off and the car bein on would make a difference tho...
