Hey guys,
I recently bought a couple amps and a sub second hand...basically because they were so cheap that I couldn't say no. Anyway I would like to know whether there is a way to test whether they work without having to fully install them into a vehicle.
Also, the rubber ring around the cone of the sub has started to pull away from the cone. Is it possible to re-glue it using silastic or something similar?
Thanks.

Just use a car battery to power them, and for a source just use whatever the car would use, so if using high-level source just run the wires to the amp, same for RCAs. Just do it on the floor. Run ground back to battery.

Thanks for the quick reply acarmody. Would you be able to explain in simple terms how to do this. Although I am fairly handy with a spanner and soldering iron, car audio is a mystery to me haha.

OK so you have a couple of amp and a sub, the amps are a multi-channel for powering some speakers and a mono for powering the sub? First hook the speakers up to the amp (don't do this with power going to amp). Get car battery and lay down on floor. Run positive to each amp, ensuring there is a fuse between each amp and the battery. Run negative for each amp to negative on battery. Run a small wire from positive on battery to the signal wire post on each amp, usually between positive and negative terminals on amps. Then just hook up the source into the inputs. Are you using RCAs, then just run them out of car door and into the amps.
