Hey guys the other day i fitted new front splits into my Senator. These speakers are now hooked up to an amp in the boot of my car when the fronts used to run throught the head unit. The problem i am having now is that every time I turn of the ignitition there is a loud buzzing noise coming from all speakers for approx 5 Seconds. With my car when you turn the ignition off the stereo keeps running until you Open the drivers door. I had a little bit of a play with the rca conections to the amp and the buzzing is not as loud as it was now.
I am not sure what could be causing this. Interferance problem with amp? problem from Head unit? wire arcing somewhere? If anyone has any ideas could you please let me know.

it is your grounding to the rca's, take out your head unit, and solder a wire to the outer part of the rca plug, my vn had the EXACT same problem and as soon as i touched the wire there, viola, also to test if its this, partialy unplug the rca's, so only the prong is touching the amp, and the outer part isnt, if buzzing stop, 100% its your grounding

Do you have a Pioneer head-unit, as the RCA grounding issue is only with the Pioneers AFAIK.
It could also be that the amp is either turning off or staying on while the head-unit is doing the opposite. Where did you get your power for the remote on the amp?

Hmm, well ok it's not a remote power problem and I doubt it'll be the RCA grounding as it's a JVC unit and I've never heard of a JVC doing it, only Pioneer. Where did you ground the amp, and did you sand back the area so it makes good contact?

Hey mate i did sand back the area before grounding the amps, I have grounded them to the boot on a good point, I used to do car stereo installs and have used this spot many times, but this problems has me stuck. Checked the RCAs by grounding them and that is not the case on this occassion. Might just spend my days off pulling the car apart and checking all the wiring but I know that it was all installed correctly. Just worried it could be the amp now...

just went through the all the wiring and found a few exposed wires so i just taped them up. Still got the annoying buzzing noise. Not sure where to go now![]()

Try another amp?
Try another head-unit?
Try powering the amp from a second battery not connected to the car?
That should keep you busy for a while. Other than the above i would also try another set of RCAs or even an iPod / MP3 player plugged straight into the amp via an adapter cable.

try to use another input feed, like an ipod with AUX - RCA outputs directly into the amp set the test to the same as when you usually turn the car off and open the door with only the ipods audio playing if the noise is still there then its not the head unit or your RCA's it will be either your remote wire / power wire / amp / speaker cable / earth, next eliminate your speaker cabling by undoing them all and using another speaker if it still does it then its not your speakers or speaker cable, next you could bridge the power cable and remote input and use an inline switch to manually control your amps on/off function...continue through eliminating things until the problem is found, i'm not exactly sure how the wiring works for the open door audio off part but its possible that could be causing the noise which may have always been there but the amp is amplifying it..?
