Hello I recently bought a Stereo system (Pioneer 6x9, Alpine CDM-7859, Boss BA-2200 2 channel 400w Amplifier). That I am trying to put into a 1996 VS Commadore
I am having trouble with the wiring guides I have found online.
The colour wires I have in the car are:
Black-White
Yellow
Yellow-Green
Orange-Purple
Blue
Grey
Brown-Black
Light Green
Darrk Green
Black-White
Black-Orange
Tan
And the radio has the following wires:
Ignition: RED
Ground: BLACK
Power Antenna:BLUE
Battery: YELLOW
RL+: Green
RL-: Green/Black
FL+: White
FL-: White/Black
FR+: Grey/Black
FR- Grey
RR+: Purple/Black
RR-: Purple
So if any1 could help me with this it would be great.
Also I put the suboofer and amp into the car and wired it up. and its not getting power any reason why??
Thanks Heaps
You've left a fair bit of info out of your post.Anyways, asnwer the following and we can go from there.
Does the head unit power on?
If not, refer to this thread in order to match up your wiring. VK-VZ Stereo wiring colours. Ensure you have done everything correctly.
I'm assuming the 2 channel amp is to run the sub? And you are running the speakers off the head unit?If not, then let us know otherwise.
How have you connected the amp?
Do you have-
Power cable (with an inline fuse)
Earth Cable (of suitable guage and connected to a bare metal surface which touches the car's chassis?)
Trigger cable, (connected from your amp to your head unit?)
Are your RCA's connected to the correct pre-out on your head unit?
Finally, make sure you have disconnected the battery before begining. Check that you haven't blown any fuses as a result of not doing so.
Does your head unit have a sub on/off function (some units do, and are default switched off when you first install them)
Yes it does power onbut then itsays protect. I am unsure to why this is and cannot find it in the user manual. The Amp is powering only the sub atm. but there is no power running into the amplifier I havn't conected this to the head unit via the cable or with the rca cables. But i thought it should still be recieving power
Connect the trigger wire from the amp to the head unit. The protect light is like a stand by light also, all you've done so far is connected the power and earth.
Finish the install before assuming ti dosen't work.
Yellow = Accessories.
Orange/Violet = Battery feed.
Black/White = Ground.
Grey and Light Brown = Left Front Sp.
Dark Green and Light Green = Right Front Sp.
Yellow/blue and Brown/Black = Left Rear Sp.
Blue/Orange and Blue/Black = Right Rear Sp.
Yellow/Red = BCM(Body Control Module) For Power Aerial.
Grey = Radio Remote Module.
This is according to Gregory's VS Workshop Manual.
It's not shown in the book, but I 'think' Brown/White = Illumination?
NOTE: The wires you see in the VS, may 'not' be the same colour as those I posted, if someone has hacked at the original harness, and added different coloured wire extensions.
In this case, you would need to trace back to the original harness, to make sure you have the correct wire colours.![]()
There are also other wires in the area behind where the radio sits, which are not part of the sound system.
ThanksGot it all up and running
What was the cause of your problem?
