    Default twin subs question

Just wondering, I just bought pair of audiolone subs, which are both rated at 500 watts RMS. I have an amplifier which I'm going to bridge and get 1000 watts from, the subs have only one terminal to connect from the amp. If I connct 1000 watts through that one terminal will it give 500 watts to each sub? Or will it be 1000 watts per sub if they are connected in parallel?

    Thanks in advance

I may be wrong here, plus I'm unfamiliar with single terminal subs, but from memory, connecting two speakers in parallel halves the impedance of the two speakers.
Turning two 4ohm's speakers, in to two 2ohm's speakers.
May be better to run the two subs separately off their own channels from the amp(dual mono I think it's called?), and not bridging the amp, giving 500w(max, not rms) from the amp to each speaker.

Only multi channel amps can be bridged, and no 2, or 4 channel amp is going to put out 1000 RMS.

Your Audioline subs aren't 500 RMS, that's most likely peak, their ture figure would probaby be around the 150-200 mark each.

We can't help you any further until you post the exact model number of both the subs and the amp you currently have.

We need model numbers to give you the correct information. I'm pretty sure Audioline don't have a 500Wrms subwoofer. We also need to know what impedances the amp is stable to.

Speaker impedance doesn't change like that. If it's a 4 ohm speaker, it's always a 4 ohm speaker. Put it in parallel with another 4 ohm speaker and they're both 4 ohm individually, but the overall impedance is 2 ohm.

My Soundstream does 1600Wrms when bridged

I was going to elaborate on it, saying basically that if he did have a multi channel amp capable of that power output, then he would have been able to afford something a bit better than the audioline subs, and would be using a dedicated mono block to run them, and that "1000" i can only assume is the peak power, of a rather cheap 4 channel amp. I could be very wrong though

Mmmmm! you would need 134Amps @ 12v to achieve that @ 100% efficiency, what batery and alternator you running?

It's not installed yet. I stripped my old system out to redo it with a few new components. But I have gone back to stock alternator (100A) as my previous one lasted 7 years and my aftermarket 120A one melted within a month. I also have a Optima Bluetop up front, a Absorbed Power 120Ah deep cycle rear battery, Stinger isolator, Stinger 30F capacitor and 0ga throughout. That amp will be running as a 2 channel for my front speakers. I have another 2000Wrms monoblock for the subs and 200Wrms x 2 for my rears.

My sig is what's just came out... That SS amps is replacing my front amp and Boston Pros are going in as rear.
