you have to take the bottom of the back seat out to access the bolts holding in the back of the seat. there should be some little pull straps at the front of the seat base. it should come out no worries along with the back of the seat which should be just 2 bolts anyways. parcel shelf is held in by plastic trim 'screws' and also should come out pretty easy.....its all plain sailing from there...yell out if you get stuck....

i would cut it if i was you. I used boxes for a while but they look bad. When youve got the parcel shelf of its easy. You will see that where the old speakers where is rasied. Just get a jigsaw and cut in half then jimmy it off, its only spot welded on. It actually looks good once you mount the speakers

    hope this helps

I have used speaker boxes or stands, what ever they are called and They sounded a little werid and did look pretty shitty. I would not recomend you cut the metal parcel shelf becuse it is unroadworthy if you do so. It weakens the structure of the car. I built a parcel shelf myself to fit my 6x9s in my vp and it looks great and speakers fit well. I think it cost me 50 to make and it sonds and looks good.

im not talking about cutting structual.... when you get the parcel shelf off you will see that there is a section of it raised to hold the speakers. CUT IT OFF!!! it is not unroadworthy because that is not considered structural. It makes it a hell lot easy and looks good.

    cutting the metal is illegal.
    so dont do it.
the only metal part you can cut is the two 6 inch pressed holes up in the corners.
thats where the factory speakers would go if your car came with them.
the holes look like they were cut, and then they tacked the pieces back in with a few spot welds.

6" will be fine for the back. Thats what was originally intended for them. The holes already there

Sure, go ahead and get a 10" put in the boot.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!

cutting the metal is not illegal.
i had a custom shelf in my VN with a free air sub in it. it was like that when i got the car (2nd hand), i was cocerned about the legalities of it so i got RTA to check it as well as engineers.
even though the center restraint anchor point had been removed and there was a huge hole there it WAS still legal.
most of the tin on your parcell shelf is not structural.
if in doubt ring RTA and ask for help, they will give you a phone number of an engineer to talk to.

****....I wanna know which engineer did yours so I can kick his arse! If it isn't illegal I wanna know what happened! It's been illegal as long as I can remember. That "tin" is very important to the car...what do you think is stopping your rear window from shattering each time you go around a corner?
