im thinking of a total of 8 speakers in my wagon + 2 subs, im thinking 4inch in the dash , 6.5" splits in the door, 6" or 6x9's in the rear and 2x 12" subs in the back, do you think it will sound any good, i was going to have a single amp for the 2 subs another amp for the splits and rears and running the 4 inch off the head unit, do you think it will sound any good or is this over kill? its in a vp wagon
If you have subs then there is no need for 6x9" speakers as these are basically 10" woofers anyway. Personally I would go either one very good set of 6" in the front and the subs, or a very good set of 6" in he front, a decent pair in the rear and the subs.

Spend as much money as your willing to on top quality components for the front then run some decent subs in the boot. Won't regret it.
Best front splits you can afford and subs and that's it. One very good set of front splits will outperform 2-3 set of normal speakers any day.

so i should just buy some focal, hertz or sound stream splits for the front ($ like 350 a pair) and just some decent 6" coaxials for the rear then a 12" in the back? im gonna be running the speakers off a response amp a 4 channel 100wrms per channel or what ever it is, and the sub off a monoblock. know any places to get good quality sound equipment for a decent price?
Yeah thats the go man.
Wait till someone else jumps in with some good model numbers.
yea well im gonna have about 500ish to spend on front and rear speakers definatly going response for speaker amps since ive never had any problems in the past and they are good bang for buck, unless someone can reconmend something better for cheaper. and ill source sub and monoblock my self, just need help picking the front speakers, dun really wanna spend any more than 350ish on the front splits
if ur looking at spending round about 300 for a pair of splits have a look in jaycar at there new
Vifa splits 6.5"splits 80wrms cat...CS-2398 $179.00
CS-2399 $199.00
JAY CAR CATALOG PAGE 398
Get some Type R Alpine in the front, you wont regret it.
Splits in front.
Type S in rear doors for fill and a Type R 12inch in the back powered by a Alpine PDX-5 and you wont regret it.
HAHAHA, not everybody can afford Boston Z6s and Audisons StoneX.......
Jaycar do make good "bang for buck" gear, but i would stay away from the Vifa gear, used it myself and its not the best. Same goes for the black Response series.....only decent speakers they make are the yellow kevlar models.

Or Ryda Car Audio - Soundstream TRC.6N Tarantula - 6.5" Component Speakers($398.85) - SoundStream TRC6N. (Highly Recommmended by InCar Awards 2009 http://www.avhub.com.au/Features.asp...7&FeatureID=98 ) (if you care what a magazine thinks lol) (I had a pair in the fronts with the SoundStream SST-05 tweeters ... was loud)
+1 on Alpine Type R Components aswell (but think Alberts sell them for ~$450 (from memory))
Deck: Alpine 9887
Speakers: Hertz HSK165 XL
Amps: Audison SRx2, SRx4 & Alpine M350
Subs: 2x Alpine 10" Type S
One set of splits and a single subwoofer in a perfectly designed box would be the way to go.
Are you in QLD mate? I've got a car up there which you might want to listen to.
