i have been running an alpine headunit with 2 rca pre outs and i just recently bought a pioneer deck with only 1 rca pre out.
so i bought a connector that allows 2 rcas to connect into the 1 pre out... i asked the guy at jb when i bought the connector and he said i should just lose the ability to use fader, which was fine with me but having wired it all up my back speakers parcel shelf speakers which i believe are running off my amp arent working.
anyone know what ive done wrong/ any ideas?
Interesting... Did you do anything with the RCA's on the Receiving Amplifier(s) end? Or did you simply just change the Head unit over?
didnt touch the amp, just changed the head unit ones over
didnt explain my setup:
front and rear doors are running from the deck
6x9s and sub running from the amp
The reason it's not working is because your car hates you for putting so many speakers in. I thought people were getting more educated in car audio, I guess not.
Use some common sense and do some simple fault finding yourself... 1st step... Check if the amp is making sound. If you can't work out how to do this, take it somewhere for a professional to fix.
thanks for not helping mate.
of corse i checked, the sub runs but the speakers dont, bass comes out of the speakers but no sound
I am so sick of tossers who think they talk Car audio and only recommend front stage! Think they are kingpin because they are set up for SQ... There is so much more the world has to offer then Front stage speakers of a car....
Daniel your initial post was crap, After filling in more info through out your problem is an easy fix. You will find on your amp, ( i hope its a 4ch) a switch that will have HPF LPF Full. Make sure the channel(s) that are running the back speakers are set on "full". I assume by the problem they are set on LPF.
If it is not that, Then it's the signal sent. I cant remember exactly how to set up Pioneer, But turn the unit off... Hold options or something (read your product manual) and it should come up with settings, Will have like clock adjust, beep etc
Scroll through and there should be a title like RCA out - It will probably be set on "woofer" make sure that is set on full range, Like i said im saying that roughly. If you need it to be allot more clear ill dig up a Pioneer head unit tomorrow and give you exact instructions.
Cheers
Stone X knows his stuff mate, i'm not looking to get into an argument here but have you listened to a car with 4 6" speakers off the head unit and 6x9 and sub off an amp?
Have you compared that to a set up of splits in the front powered properly, and a sub in the boot powered properly? The latter will sound a million times better than the 7 speaker setup.
I'm all for correctly staged sound. Some people do only focus on front stage, however if your carrying passengers again you would be better to have splits in the back or some decent coaxils rather than 6x9, or a mix of 6" and 6x9.
Sorry to step off topic i just wanted to make sure that people reading this do not disregard front staging or think that running alot of speakers is the way to go.. less is more!
Cheers.

Nice try, mate. I never said anything about front stage only. Front, rear and sub is fine... But two sets of rears and 6x9's with subs are not necessary.
No shit his first post was crap. He still hasn't supplied any useful information like model numbers. If he'd explained it properly in his first post he'd already have it fixed. Lucky I kept at him to get that little bit of extra info out about the LPF issue
If the head unit is a new model, you'll usually hold down the main knob when the unit is sourced off to get into the initial settings. Your instruction manual will explain how to do it.
I must admit i did not read into his system set up, Never the less i am not backing down on the fact how much i hate SQ people going on about Front stage is the only way etc
At the end of the day, It's his car. Set up how he wants, and no doubt for a sedan it's allot easier to bolt in 6x9s as appose to 6" in the rear parcel tray. Don't go on about how it's not needed because if he is chasing volume he is on his way, So really who are you to criticize what he is running considering that it's not related to his initial question? In other words it doesn't provide him with help.
I know there are allot of Threads on here that haven't been started well, Information lacking etc but StoneX i know you from previous conversations, You know your stuff. These kid's are asking for help, Not everyone has brains for this stuff. There is nothing better then being Humble and sharing some knoweldge of out own mate.
On second thought, I think i am just getting tired...Haha
Cheers,

Yeah, I know I shouldn't criticise... But I also helped. My second line of my first post was to push him to find the fault himself. I learnt by trial and error, I didn't post on forums for easy answers. Trying things yourself is the best way for these new guys to learn
I really need to avoid posting when my car has just broken down and has been stranded at someone else's house. Apologies to the original poster for my bad attitude yesterday.
thanks mate, and i did end up fixing it myself with some help from supersixty6 so thanks a lot to him.
ended up being the hpf setting which i didnt have switched on and i didnt know there was a rear setting and an pre out setting so that was a bit confusing
