    Default custom sub box

hi all im looking to get a new sub box for my subs and is wondering if any1 can give me some help with who or where i could get a custom sub box made for my vs

Any decent car audio installer can make one for you, but they charge quite a bit. Last time I checked it was about $250 upwards.

Alternatively you can get the wood cut at basically any decent wood working business and then you can assemble it at home, just screws, glue, and sealant.

Yes it will. If it was a sealed box then it wouldn't really matter. But if you change the dimensions of the box then you need to redesign the port, otherwise the port tuning frequency will be way out.

I know WOW Sight and Sound said they can build one, at least Rothwell and Kedron did anyway, the only two I checked. Also Complete Car Sound at Engoerra said they can do it. Those were the only places I asked. Both wanted around the $500 mark for a twin ported box.

ok then cheers maybe ill just make myself a simple sealed box and have that for a while until i can find someone to make me a ported one or just have a go at a ported one.

$500 really? i maybe totally wrong but thats a ****load of cash for a simple box considering you can get a sealed one for around $100 $150 from what i know at least

Have a crack at it yourself mate, put them in a sealed box and i think on the diff hump you can fit around 3.0cu.ft of box so you'll get a decent 1cu.ft each sub.. go to bunnings or wherever with the dimensions, get them to cut it, buy some screws and liquid nails and put it together.
    Save yourself heaps.

^ Totally agree. If you need a hand with dimensions, many people on here can help.

yer i not worried about being able to put one together and yer i would be getting bunnings to do my cutting lol (im going in there this wknd to get some sheets for my false floor) but i was wanting rather a ported then sealed and dnt feel 2 confident building a ported but i prob will end up making my own sealed if i cant find somewhere or someone to make me one without spending almost a hole weeks pay lol

You won't be able to fit a ported box on the diff hump anyway mate, not for 2 12" subs and get it to sound decent..

1.5 cu ft, is too small for a ported application to suit the majority of 12'' subs. 2- 2.5 is more on the money, so your looking at anywhere between 4-5 cu ft, for two 12's. That's not including driver and port displacement either.

Agree with you there mate, alot of people don't take into account the port/sub/timber displacement.
