im buying a VE SV6 UTE and i was wondering where the best place subs should be put in a ute for for sound quality for eg. (in the tray with a hard top or in the cab behind the seat) im thinking about putting one 15" or two 12"s either way they will have 2000+ watt's getting pumped out of em if anyone has a sound system in there ute i would like to hear your input and get some advise on where you think subs should be placed to get that real hard hitting bass that everyone wants

Okay, I would go behind the seat. The VEs have a fairly decent size gap behind them don't they?
Have you got the subs and amp yet?

Wow with a 15" or 2x12s in a ute your going to get some serious bass..
I would probably go with behind the seats.. i've heard those trays love to rattle. Have you worked out where you could fit the subs if you did decide to mount behind the seats?
Check out my ride!
on my vp ute i made my own box (ver bad) behind the passenger seat and my bigger freinds have enough leg room.
I know for a fact if you go to autobarn they sell special box's for utes. Your best bet is a slim line sub and maybe make your own box
or see if any of the box's for autobarn fit. For the amp i mounted mine on but diagonally so a side is resting on the back of the cab.
You can also mount the amps under the seat if there is room.
i hope this information helps

not sure if the space is the same in the VE
VG to VS ute Subwoofer enclosure with measurements
Don't waste your cabin space
I've a 12" 600 watt mounted in the tray
It's fairly loud in the cabin and outside

i got 2 pioneer 1200watt mono blocks for the subs im not sure what subs probley looking at at least 1200 watt each aswell i might try the tray because like like vz-rob said dont waste the space
I wish you would stop quoting max power and would use RMS power ratings. Those amps do not produce 1200 watts, 400 or 600 depending on which model.

in the VE you have bucketloads of room in the cabin! now i might get in trouble for this but, over on a ute forum there is a silver VE with 10' subs in custom boxes with shelves made to hold the amps sitting behind the seats and it is loud! partnered up with focal speakers i think he can hit some pretty high dB without distorting..
