Hey everyone.. currently i am running a JBL gto4000 4/3/2 channel amp.. this amp is powering two 900W sony explodes.. and two 16cm pioneer speakers... this amp is to small to power all these speakers on its own.. so i am looking at buying a 2000W 2 channel amp to run the subs.. but am not sure if my alternator will be powerful enough.. any help will be great..
i am also new to the audio crowd and dont totally understand all the lingo..
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust, if it weren't for Fords our tools would rust.
Yes your alternator is more than capable.

Hey mate, welcome.
First of all, from now on please quote RMS values, not max values for amps/speakers. You have most likely quoted max power.
Second of all, you will be after a monoblock amp to run your subs, not a 2 channel.
The JBL amp does 4x50wrms which will be ok for entry level speakers.
Look at getting a decent monoblock amp for the subs, if you can give model number/ rms ratings and impendance of the subs i can help you with an amp.
Your altenator will be fine, if you have proper earths and thick enough wiring for the job.
I was running ~1400wrms through my stock battery and altenator with no problems, no headlight dimming or anything.
EDIT: acarmody beat me to it!

You would be lucky if those specifications came within 10% of that power output....
Your Alt will be fine!
